How to choose the best holster for your Taurus 627 Tracker

Start with comfort. The Taurus 627 Tracker is a big revolver with a serious presence, so whatever holster you choose needs to hold up to that weight without digging into your side or shifting when you move. Make sure it's made for the gun’s size because generic fits don’t cut it. Whether you're hiking, driving, or just running errands, the right holster keeps things stable and easy to reach. Retention matters too. A good fit means the holster holds your 627 snugly without a fight when you draw. And materials? Go for something that feels right against your body, especially if you're carrying all day. Some folks like the classic feel of leather, others prefer the low-profile stiffness of Kydex.

Carry Options for Taurus 627 Tracker holsters

Concealed Carry

IWB Holsters

An IWB Taurus 627 Tracker holster needs to balance concealment with comfort. Look for one with adjustable cant so you can find the sweet spot for your draw angle. Padding helps, especially around the edges where pressure builds up during long sits. It’s not the smallest revolver, so expect to feel it, but a well-made IWB rig makes it doable.

OWB Holsters

For many, an OWB Taurus 627 Tracker holster just makes more sense. It rides easier, prints less if worn right, and draws smoother. Choose something with a wide belt loop or slot to keep the weight evenly spread. If you’re walking a lot or moving around on the job, this setup keeps your hip from feeling like it’s hauling bricks.

Shoulder Holsters

A Taurus 627 Tracker shoulder holster can feel like a throwback, but it works, especially under a coat or for long drives. It takes the weight off your belt and balances it across your back. Ideal for colder months or road trips when waistband carry gets awkward. Make sure the straps are thick and well-padded so you don’t end the day with sore shoulders.

left hand holsters

Lefties need gear that fits their draw, not something flipped around as an afterthought. A Taurus Tracker 627 left hand holster should come properly molded for your hand, your side, and your draw style, whether you’re carrying IWB, OWB, or on a chest rig. No compromises here. Look for models built specifically for southpaw use, not "ambidextrous" shortcuts.

chest holsters

A Taurus 627 Tracker chest holster makes a lot of sense for outdoor folks. Whether you're hiking, ATV riding, or deep in the woods, this carry keeps your revolver tight to your chest and out of the way. It won’t interfere with your pack or belt gear and draws clean from a centered position. Bonus: it spreads weight across your upper body so your hips get a break.

paddle holsters

Want a quick-on, quick-off setup? A Taurus 627 Tracker paddle holster clips right onto your waistband, no threading through a belt. Great for range days or when you don’t want to commit to wearing a rig all day. Just make sure it hugs your side well and has a secure enough fit to handle the Tracker’s bulk.

chest holsters

Some holsters just fit certain setups better, and the Taurus 627 Tracker chest holster is a go-to for active carry. It keeps the revolver snug and centered, perfect for trail use or working out in the field. Since the weight is high on your body, you stay mobile without shifting your belt load. That’s a win when you're carrying other gear or moving through rough terrain.

Summary

Choosing the right Taurus 627 Tracker holster depends on how and where you carry. Whether it’s a Taurus Tracker 627 chest holster for time in the backcountry, a paddle holster for quick grab and go, or a Taurus Tracker 627 left hand holster designed for your dominant side, fit and comfort make all the difference. The 627 is a beast of a revolver, so your holster needs to carry its weight. Think about your daily routine, your clothing, how long you'll wear it, and what feels natural on the draw. If you're on the move, you want something stable. If you sit a lot, pay attention to padding and ride height. No one wants to adjust their holster all day. There’s no perfect answer for everyone, just the right one for you and how you live with your gear.

This could easily be a five star review. I'll come back to this. The first impression made by the heavy leather was very positive. The holster also had double stitching and generally solid construction throughout. When I put the gun in the holster and it didn't quite fit. I've had to stretch leather before so this wasn't a problem. Having read previous reviews I noted other people had torn the retention strap so I worked on the body of the holster rather than the strap. The difference in size was about that between a .38 Special cartridge and a .357 Magnum. I was trying to stuff a .357 Magnum into the holster. I worked on it off and on for about a week and eventually got the gun and holster to mate. Now the holster really is "custom." The quality exceeded my expectations for the price. I can see buying from Craft Holsters again. The reason I only gave this product four stars is because

Not a fan of the metal clip. I’ve had the holster a few days and the metal clip is sprung out. I have two Galco holsters that I’ve had for years with heavy plastic clips that are very durable and always retain their shape.
