The Sig Sauer company began in 1853 and was at first a wagon factory - until the revolutionary design of the Prélaz-Burnand rifle, which this factory manufactured, had won a Switzerland's Federal Ministry of Defense competition to produce 30 000 Prélaz-Burnand rifles. The factory then changed its name to Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft - SIG (Swiss Industrial Company in English).
The SIG Sauer P365 is a single-action, recoil operated semi-automatic pistol. The SIG P365 was designed by SIG Sauer Inc., the American sister company of SIG Sauer GbmH, the most famous Swiss gun manufacturer. The pistol was introduced in 2018 and it has since become one of the most popular everyday carry handguns. The P365 keeps finding itself on nearly every list of the best available carry guns and it poses a real threat to other popular sub-compact pistols.
What sets the SIG P365 apart from its competition is its high capacity double-stack magazine, offering 10+1 rounds of ammo. At the pistol’s launch, SIG Sauer also introduced an extended 12 rounds magazine with a pinky extension and, later on, they even delivered an extended 15 rounds magazine. The P365 is chambered in the 9x19mm Parabellum, the most popular everyday carry and service caliber. When it comes to the pistol’s firing mechanism, the P365 is a striker-fired pistol.
The overall length of the gun is 5.8’’ and the barrel of this pistol is 3.1’’ long. When unloaded, the pistol weighs mere 17.8oz, which makes it one of the lightest pistols currently available on the market. The pistol’s light weight is the result of materials used in the SIG’s production. Material-wise, the SIG P365’s slide is made of stainless steel and the frame and grips are made of black polymer. The SIG Sauer P365 is also available in Nitron Micro-Compact finish.
This pistol’s slide is equipped with front and rear serrations. The P365 also comes with 3-dot tritium SIG Sauer XRay3 Night Sights, which deliver great accuracy. However, when the pistol was first released, some shooters complained about problems with the P365 sights. The SIG is also equipped with an accessory rail, which means you can attach various tactical lights and lasers to it. If you’re having trouble deciding which tactical light or laser to pair your SIG up with, then have a look at our list of Top 6 SIG Sauer P365 lights and lasers for 2021 And if you already have a light or laser attached to your SIG, don’t forget to pick one of our Sig Sauer P365 light-bearing holsters for it. Another way go to upgrade your P365 is getting yourself an optics mounting platform and a reliable SIG P365 red dot sight. If you get one, you'll also need a reliable red dot holster for SIG P365.
The high capacity, extreme compactness and easy concealment make the SIG P365 one of the best everyday concealed carry and service pistols, especially when paired with a well-fitting SIG P365 holster. The pistol probably works best when carried in an inside the waistband holster or appendix holster. However, as the P365 is very compact and hardly noticeable, outside the waistband holsters are also a great option.
