About Sig Sauer P227
The Sig Sauer company began in 1853 and was at first a wagon factory - until the revolutionary design of the Prélaz-Burnand rifle, which this factory manufactured, had won a Switzerland's Federal Ministry of Defense competition to produce 30 000 Prélaz-Burnand rifles. The factory then changed its name to Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft - SIG (Swiss Industrial Company in English).
This recoil operated semi-automatic pistol was produced in 2013. This model is chambered in .45 Auto caliber. The 45 Automatic is the most powerful military handgun cartridge in use today. This is a heavy and powerful sub-sonic round, its velocity and bullet weight creates a steep trajectory curve that limits its effective range to self-defense distances. This model features checkered front strap and trigger guard, double-action trigger, frame mounted decocking lever safety, 10-round magazine, anodized aluminum frame, black polymer grip, SIGLITE night sights, Nitron finish slide and it is dehorned. It also features an SRT trigger action, anti-snag treatment on the slide and frame and no rail. The length of this pistol is 7.1-in with 3.9-in barrel.
