How to choose the best holster for your Colt Grizzly

Start with the carry purpose. Whether you're hunting, range shooting, or carrying for protection, the right Colt Grizzly holster balances comfort, retention, and accessibility. Choose a holster molded specifically for the large frame and barrel length of the Colt Grizzly. Materials like reinforced leather or high-strength polymers provide durable retention. Adjustable retention screws and sweat guards improve both safety and usability. Consider cant angle and ride height to match your preferred draw style and activity.

As a bonus, the holster can also be used as a regular belt holster, giving you two carry options in one.

Carry Options for Cot Grizzly holsters

Concealed Carry

Carrying a Colt Grizzly concealed is challenging due to its size, but possible with the right holster setup and wardrobe adjustments.

IWB Holsters

IWB holsters for the Colt Grizzly require reinforced backing and deep concealment clips to manage the revolver's weight and profile. A Colt Grizzly IWB holster works best when paired with a sturdy belt and worn at the 4 o'clock position. Look for models that distribute weight evenly across the waistband to reduce fatigue.

OWB Holsters

OWB holsters are ideal for range use or open carry. A Colt Grizzly OWB holster should feature wide belt loops or paddle platforms for stability. High-ride designs with a forward cant allow faster draw while keeping the revolver close to the body. Leather and Kydex options provide solid retention and minimal movement during activity.

Shoulder Holsters

Shoulder holsters are a practical choice for the Colt Grizzly, especially in colder weather or when seated. A Colt Grizzly shoulder holster with wide harness straps offers better weight distribution. Horizontal or vertical carry options depend on draw preference. Look for models with tie-downs to reduce sway and enhance control.

Finding the right Colt Grizzly holster depends on how and where you carry. OWB and shoulder options are most practical due to the revolver’s size, while IWB models can work with proper support and clothing. Each Colt Grizzly holster should provide a secure fit, reliable retention, and comfort for extended wear. Choose based on your carry context to get the most out of your revolver.

Fits perfectly, well built from good quality leather at a very reasonable price. Shipping was amazingly fast. Every holster I have ever ordered from Craft Holsters has been top notch.

Good cross draw holster. I got one for a colt grizzly and it is more comfortable especially to sit with. Beware, there is a break in period. Had to stuff the gun in a sock and then leave it in the holster overnight just to get the leather to stretch. After that and wearing it around for two days, it fits very well. Don’t expect it to be a concealable holster, unless you maybe have a micro carry. 4 star because my button is a pain in the ass to snap on the hammer strap. Other than that definitely worth the money.
