About Sig Sauer SP2009
The Sig Sauer company began in 1853 and was at first a wagon factory - until the revolutionary design of the Prélaz-Burnand rifle, which this factory manufactured, had won a Switzerland's Federal Ministry of Defense competition to produce 30 000 Prélaz-Burnand rifles. The factory then changed its name to Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft - SIG (Swiss Industrial Company in English).
The SP 2009 pistol works on the principle of a locked breech with a short return movement of the barrel. It locks in the ejection window with its rear extended part. The reduction system mainly underwent changes compared to classical models. The breech of the Sig Sauer SP 2022 pistol is made of stainless steel with a black Nitron finish. The extractor is located inside the closure to eliminate its contamination. The sights of the Sig Sauer SP 2022 pistol are classic as in previous models, with a comma in the sight and a dot on the front sight. The body of the Sig Sauer SP 2009 pistol is polymer. However, the closing guides are made of steel, made of one piece and mainly replaceable, unlike other manufacturers. The body is shaped into a Picatinny rail in the front. The bow of the Sig Sauer SP 2009 pistol has grooves in the front part. The model is chambered in 9 mm Luger caliber. The overall length of this pistol is 7.4-in with 3.9-in barrel.
