How to choose the best holster for your Ruger 57
Start by thinking about your daily routine and what carrry style would compliment that, as well as the pistol that you require to go along. Do you move around a lot or are sitting for most of the day? Do you live in an open carry state or not? All of those and many more are things that one needs to consider when choosing the right holster. A good Ruger 57 holster should hold your firearm securely, let you draw quickly, and fit the gun’s exact shape, especially if you’ve added a light or red dot sight. The material you choose matters too. Kydex gives you structure and quick reholstering, while leather softens over time and molds to your body. Hybrid holsters combine both. What you wear, how active you are, and where you plan to carry will help you find the best match.
Best Ruger 57 IWB Holster
IWB Holster w Steel Clip – $89. This leather holster can be carried both IWB and appendix style, offering flexibility in how you choose to carry your Ruger 57. The steel clip design is perfect for those who dislike removing their belt when attaching or detaching the holster. It also features a reinforced thumb break strap, adding extra durability and increasing the holster’s natural retention, making it a highly secure option.
Best Ruger 57 OWB Holster
Open Top Belt Holster – $89. The Open Top Belt Holster is an excellent choice for those seeking easy access and a quick draw. Its pancake design provides a slim, low-profile fit, ensuring that your Ruger 57 remains concealed even in an OWB carry position. This holster is not only practical but also extremely comfortable for daily wear.
Best Ruger 57 Shoulder Holster
Shoulder Holster System – $215. For shoulder holster fans, the Shoulder Holster System is the best option for the Ruger 57. This leather shoulder system allows you to carry your gun in a horizontal position, secured with a thumb break strap for added safety. The system includes a double ammo holder and tie-down straps that attach to your belt, offering excellent balance and security. As a bonus, the holster can also be used as a regular belt holster, giving you two carry options in one.
Carry Options for Ruger 57 holsters
Concealed Carry
The Ruger-57’s long slide makes it a bit harder to conceal, but with the right holster, it’s totally doable. A well-designed Ruger 57 concealed carry holster hugs your body and minimizes printing. Inside-the-waistband carry is a popular choice for staying discreet, but appendix or shoulder carry may be more comfortable depending on your build and wardrobe.
IWB Holsters
An IWB Ruger 57 holster sits inside your waistband, keeping the gun tight to your side. It’s one of the best ways to stay low-profile while carrying. Look for adjustable retention and ride height so you can fine-tune it to your comfort.
OWB Holsters
OWB Ruger 57 holsters are great if comfort and quick access are your priorities. A well-fitted Ruger 57 holster worn outside the waistband works well for range days or open carry. Paddle and belt slide options are popular in this category.
Shoulder Holsters
If you’re sitting a lot during the day or driving long hours, a Ruger 57 shoulder holster can make carrying much more comfortable. It spreads the weight across your shoulders and keeps your waistband clear.
Chest Holsters
A Ruger 57 chest holster is a smart choice for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers, and hunters. It places your pistol securely across your chest, keeping it easily accessible even with a backpack or bulky gear. This style keeps the weight off your waist and offers a practical solution for carrying in remote or rugged environments.
Drop Leg Holster
A Ruger 57 drop leg holster is perfect for tactical setups or when you’re on the move. It straps to your thigh, giving you quick access without getting in the way of your belt or waistband.
Paddle Holster
Need something easy to put on and take off? A Ruger 57 paddle holster is a solid choice. It slides over your waistband and locks in place, offering convenience and secure carry for range time or casual open carry.
Duty Holster
For professionals, a Ruger 57 duty holster adds features like active retention, rugged materials, and durability for daily use. Whether you're in law enforcement or private security, it’s built for tough conditions.
Appendix Holster
Appendix carry puts your firearm right up front for the fastest access. A Ruger 57 appendix holster offers a slim profile, smart angling, and comfort features to make carrying up front easier and safer.
Light Bearing Holster
A Ruger 57 light bearing holster is shaped around your weapon-mounted light. It keeps everything snug and secure while still letting you draw quickly, even in low-light situations.
Holster with Red Dot
Running a red dot? A holster for Ruger-57 with red dot gives you space and protection for your optic. These holsters are cut to clear your sight and keep it safe from bumps or snags.
Holster with Light and Red Dot
Got both a light and a red dot on your Ruger 57? You’ll want a Ruger 57 holster with light and red dot that’s molded to fit your full setup. This ensures proper retention without compromising draw speed.
Material options for ruger 57 holsters
Ruger 57 Leather Holsters
Leather holsters offer excellent comfort and durability, molding to your body and firearm over time for a snug, glove-like fit. Made from premium full‑grain or Italian leather, they provide natural retention and protection while softening with use—often becoming comfier than synthetic options.
Ruger 57 Kydex Holsters
Kydex holsters are ultra‑lightweight and rigid, offering precise, custom molding that securely retains your firearm—even under demanding conditions—without needing a break‑in period. Their material resists chemicals and weather, provides adjustable retention (often reaching Level II–III), and delivers a satisfying “click” on draw and reholstering.
Ruger 57 Nylon Holsters
Nylon holsters are lightweight and cost-effective, made from durable, breathable materials like ballistic or Cordura nylon, making them ideal for concealed carry without adding bulk. Semi-universal designs molded around your firearm—and often compatible with similar-size guns—offer decent retention through body and belt pressure, especially for IWB use.

Summary
As we have shown, finding the right Ruger 57 holster is not exactly elementary. But in the end it all comes down to how you carry, what gear you run, and what feels right for you personally and what compliments your routine. Whether you're looking for a compact Ruger 57 appendix holster for fast draw, a Ruger 57 shoulder holster for seated comfort, or a rugged Ruger 57 duty holster for professional use, you can be sure that there’s a setup made to match your needs. If you intend to conceal carry, you should look for holsters with low-profile design that stay comfortable all day longs in all weather. Junk. There is a plastic piece that connects holster to belt, it stands off of about 1" so it sticks out and leaves a large gap. A low slung holster should lay flat on the leg. A leather holster should not be 1/2 plastic. Craft Holsters customer service does not return messages. I want my money back.

Well-made and tight holsters. Out of the three holsters I receive, two of them were perfect and needed no breaking in. The holster for the PX4 needed minor sizing to be perfect.

Awesome holster. The quality is evident as soon as you put in service. The comfort level after using it for a week or so is unmatched. Great product, constructed with quality and care.
