Glock Ges.m.b.H., trademarked as Glock is one of the most famous and successful firearm producer, well known all over the world.  Engineer Gaston Glock, company's founder who had no experience with firearms manufacture or design, became one of the most successful firearms designer of all times. Glock had extensive experience in advanced synthetic polymers, knowledge of which was very important in the company's design of the first commercially successful line of polymer frame pistols.

The Glock 17 is a recoil operated semi-automatic pistol with a striker single-action (SA) trigger. The G 17 was designed and produced by Austrian manufacturer Glock Ges.m.b.H. Glock pistols in general have become some of the most favourite guns, and have been supplied to national armed forces, police forces and security agencies in at least 48 countries. The role of the Glock 17 was originally a duty-style firearm meant to be more on OWB and carried by police officers. Eventually, the role expanded into competition and general range use. Despite some of the problems the Glock 17 has, it quickly became popular with competition shooters as well. These days, the pistol cherishes extreme popularity even among those who simply want to get out there and enjoy a bit of plinking.

The Glock 17 is a full-sized handgun that comes with a 4.49 inch long barrel and overall it is 8.03 inches long, 1.26 wide, 5.47 inches high with weight of 24.87 oz when unloaded. The Glock 17 is equipped with a double stack 17-round magazine and it relies on the use of the 9 mm Luger cartridge. As the G17 is a single action pistol, the trigger is the only operating element when speaking about manual safeties. All three internal pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique single-action trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released.

When it comes to the construction of G17, it has a polymer frame and comes with integrated polymer grips assuring comfortable holding of the gun. The G17 pistol easily allows customization with different triggers, grips, and sights. When talking about the magazines, it initially features a 17-round steel line double stack magazine with a polymer overmold. The magazines themselves are fairly inexpensive and cost around $25 apiece. But in case it is not enough for you, they can be extended to 19, 24, 26, 31 and even 33 rounds, which is really quite enough.

The Glock 17 features fixed, white dot front and  white square U rear sights. And also some newer rear sights can be adjusted for windage (on certain models due to the windage sights not coming as factory default), as it has a degree of lateral movement in the dovetail it is mounted in. If you are not a fan of default sights, there are many Glock 17 aftermarket sights systems you can easily add to your gun.

The Glock 17 is a full-sized pistol with a full-sized grip and minimal muzzle rise, which makes it very controllable and accurate even in rapid-fire. It’s trivial to get groupings of less than 2” from 25 yards, or less than 1.5” from 15 yards. For a combat pistol, the accuracy of the Glock 17 is more than acceptable. No matter your shooting skills, this pistol will give you accuracy. And if you wish to even increase it, there are many aftermarket options available, such as Glock 17 lights and lasers. And if you already have a light or laser attached to your G17, you should also get a Glock 17 light & laser-bearing holster for it.

Initially, the Glock 17, wasn’t seen as a concealed carry style weapon, but as holster technology has improved. The gun has become more popular for concealed carry. Although it is a large gun, it is still viable to be carried in a Glock 17 IWB holster or Glock 17 appendix holster. The most frequent way of carrying the G17 is in an outside the waistband holster. You just have to make sure that your body is large enough to do so. And that you’re wearing a good holster with clothing that is large enough to not print with the firearm. And, of course, Glock 17 shoulder holsters are also a great way how to carry this magnificent pistol. What makes a great IWB Glock 17 Holster?

A well made, custom  Glock 17 IWB holster will hold your firearm even if it doesn’t come with a safety strap. The glove-like fit and high natural retention are a result of your new Glock 17 holster being molded on the exact replica of your pistol. Thanks to the way your new holster is made, your handgun will not fall out of the holster even if you decide to carry your rig upside down (although we advise you not to carry this way). However, if you want to get as much retention as possible, feel free to choose from our selection of Glock 17 IWB holsters equipped with a thumb-break strap.

On the other hand, a perfect fit isn’t the only thing a great holster should deliver. A great Glock 17 IWB holster should also come with smooth edges and meticulous stitching. Such features help to protect the holster from abrasion, scratches, wear as well as prevent it from taking any damage should it come in contact with rough surfaces. A great Glock 17 IWB holster also comes with a perfect finish, which keeps it protected from dust and moisture. However, in order to ensure longevity and perfect condition of even the best holster, you should regularly take care of your Glock 17 IWB holster through proper holster maintenance.
