Holsters for Kimber 1911
How to choose the best holster for your Kimber 1911
The Kimber 1911 is a full-size pistol with some weight to it, so your holster needs to do more than just hold the gun. It needs to feel right when you're walking, sitting, driving, or crouching. Start with fit. A Kimber 1911 holster should grip the frame and guard tight enough that nothing shifts, but not so tight you’re fighting it on the draw. You want clean access and a secure hold. Then think about how it rides. High and tight for faster draw? Low and deep for more concealment? Adjustable ride height and cant let you fine-tune that sweet spot so it works with your body and how you move. If you’ve added a light or optic, make sure your holster is cut for it, no one wants to file down gear just to get a proper fit. Finally, pick your material. Leather breaks in and forms to your body over time, it gets better the more you wear it. Kydex keeps a rigid profile and gives you that crisp snap when the gun locks in. Both have their place. Choose what matches your day-to-day.
Best Kimber 1911 IWB Holster
IWB Holster w Steel Clip – $89. This leather holster can be carried both IWB and appendix style, offering flexibility in how you choose to carry your Kimber 1911. The steel clip design is perfect for those who dislike removing their belt when attaching or detaching the holster. It also features a reinforced thumb break strap, adding extra durability and increasing the holster’s natural retention, making it a highly secure option.
Best Kimber 1911 OWB Holster
Open Top Belt Holster – $89. The Open Top Belt Holster is an excellent choice for those seeking easy access and a quick draw. Its pancake design provides a slim, low-profile fit, ensuring that your Kimber 1911 remains concealed even in an OWB carry position. This holster is not only practical but also extremely comfortable for daily wear.
Best Kimber 1911 Shoulder Holster
Shoulder Holster System – $215. For shoulder holster fans, the Shoulder Holster System is the best option for the Kimber 1911. This leather shoulder system allows you to carry your gun in a horizontal position, secured with a thumb break strap for added safety. The system includes a double ammo holder and tie-down straps that attach to your belt, offering excellent balance and security. As a bonus, the holster can also be used as a regular belt holster, giving you two carry options in one.
Carry Options for Kimber 1911 holsters
Concealed Carry
Carrying a Kimber 1911 concealed isn’t impossible, it just takes the right holster. A Kimber 1911 concealed carry holster should hug close, ride stable, and stay put when you’re moving around or sitting for long stretches. Adjustable cant helps with draw angle, and a good sweat guard keeps metal off your skin. That matters if you’re carrying all day.
IWB Holsters
IWB carry puts the gun inside your waistband, so low profile is key. A Kimber 1911 IWB holster should ride steady and not jab when you sit down. Look for one with a solid clip and adjustable cant so you can set the angle that feels natural to draw. The smoother it rides, the more likely you’ll keep wearing it.
OWB Holsters
Outside-the-waistband carry gives you breathing room. A Kimber 1911 OWB holster won’t pinch or dig in and often gives a quicker draw. With a good belt and a cover layer like a jacket or flannel, it can still work for concealment. For range time or winter carry, it’s a go-to.
Shoulder Holsters
A shoulder holster for Kimber 1911 spreads the weight across your shoulders so it’s not all on your belt. That helps if you’re sitting a lot, like driving or working outdoors, or just want a break from waistband carry. Look for wide straps that don’t dig in and enough adjustability to keep it snug.
Chest Holster
Out in the woods or on the job? A Kimber 1911 chest holster puts the pistol front and center, literally. It’s easy to reach, doesn’t interfere with waist belts or backpacks, and stays put when you move. If you’re after a chest holster for Kimber 1911, go with padded straps and a retention system that won’t bounce or rattle.
Drop Leg Holster
Drop leg setups are all about speed and space. A Kimber 1911 drop leg holster keeps the gun down on your thigh, freeing up belt room and giving a fast draw. It’s a good choice for range days, tactical drills, or gear-heavy setups. Wide, tight straps keep it from sliding around.
Holster with Red Dot
If you’ve got a red dot on your Kimber, you’ll need a holster that clears it. A Kimber 1911 holster with red dot space should have a cut that lets the optic sit free without catching. You still want tight retention, so check the draw feel, especially if the slide’s a bit taller now.

Great holsters I have them for all my firearms one thing to know and keep in mind the picktenie rail on the raging hunter line is on the barrel not at the rear of the firearm so this may not work unless you install an optic at the rear sights of the raging hunter I'm keeping the holster and looking into doing just that
