Holsters for Sig Sauer M17
How to choose the best holster for your Sig Sauer M17
Start with the basics. You want something that holds your Sig M17 snug, covers the trigger, and doesn’t rub the wrong way when you move. If you’re carrying daily, comfort and draw speed matter more than bells and whistles. Make sure it’s molded for the M17’s size. A one-size-fits-most holster might sound easy, but it won’t feel great once you’re actually walking, sitting, or reaching for something. A proper Sig Sauer M17 holster stays put and doesn’t shift on you. If you carry with a light, double-check that the holster is built to match your exact setup. Not all models leave room for attachments. And finally, consider your usual clothing and routine. A holster that works with jeans might not work with gym shorts or a suit.
Best Sig Sauer M17 IWB Holster
IWB Holster w Steel Clip – $89. This leather holster can be carried both IWB and appendix style, offering flexibility in how you choose to carry your Sig Sauer M17. The steel clip design is perfect for those who dislike removing their belt when attaching or detaching the holster. It also features a reinforced thumb break strap, adding extra durability and increasing the holster’s natural retention, making it a highly secure option.
Best Sig Sauer M17 OWB Holster
Open Top Belt Holster – $89. The Open Top Belt Holster is an excellent choice for those seeking easy access and a quick draw. Its pancake design provides a slim, low-profile fit, ensuring that your Sig Sauer M17 remains concealed even in an OWB carry position. This holster is not only practical but also extremely comfortable for daily wear.
Best Sig Sauer M17 Shoulder Holster
Shoulder Holster System – $215. For shoulder holster fans, the Shoulder Holster System is the best option for the Sig Sauer M17. This leather shoulder system allows you to carry your gun in a horizontal position, secured with a thumb break strap for added safety. The system includes a double ammo holder and tie-down straps that attach to your belt, offering excellent balance and security. As a bonus, the holster can also be used as a regular belt holster, giving you two carry options in one.
Carry Options for Sig Sauer M17 holsters
Concealed Carry
If you carry under a shirt or jacket, the key is low-profile and stable. A Sig Sauer M17 concealed holster should sit tight against your body without bulging or printing. Because the M17 is a full-size gun, you’ll want something that spreads out the pressure so it doesn’t dig in by hour three.
IWB Holsters
An IWB holster for the M17 needs to balance concealment with support. You’re tucking a duty-size pistol inside your waistband, so comfort is non-negotiable. Look for adjustable cant and retention. That way you can fine-tune how it rides until it feels just right. A solid Sig Sauer M17 IWB holster won’t shift around when you sit or bend.
OWB Holsters
Outside-the-waistband carry makes sense when concealment isn’t top priority. It’s easier to draw from, especially if you’re moving a lot or wearing layers. A good Sig Sauer M17 OWB holster should hug close to your belt and angle slightly forward for a cleaner draw. You’ll feel the difference if you’re standing for hours or walking long distances.
Shoulder Holsters
Shoulder rigs make carrying a big pistol like the M17 more manageable, especially when sitting or driving a lot. They keep the weight off your belt and give you fast access under a jacket. A Sig Sauer M17 shoulder holster should distribute weight evenly so it doesn’t dig into your neck or slide around when you move.
Drop Leg Holsters
Drop leg holsters are for when speed and access beat subtlety. Whether you’re at the range or running drills, a Sig Sauer M17 drop leg holster keeps your draw consistent and your hands clear. It straps to your thigh, so make sure it fits tight without cutting off circulation. Useful when you’re wearing body armor or gear that blocks a waistband draw.
Holsters with Light
Got a weapon light? Make sure your holster is built for it. A Sig Sauer M17 holster with light needs extra clearance, but still has to hold tight without rattling. Look for models that specify your light brand. Generic "light-bearing" options often miss the mark. That setup matters most if you carry in low-light or train with a light regularly.

Summary
Choosing the right Sig Sauer M17 holster comes down to how you plan to carry and what gear you’re using. If you need to stay discreet, an IWB or shoulder holster is probably your best bet. If you want faster draw or are working with tactical gear, a Sig Sauer M17 drop leg holster or OWB rig might feel more natural. And if you’re running a light, double-check that your holster matches the setup so you’re not fighting friction on the draw. Comfort, stability, and access are what count. When those line up with your carry style, carrying the M17 becomes a habit you don’t have to think twice about.

THIS IS THE 3RD HOLSTER THAT I PURCHASED FROM U. THEY ALL LOOK GREAT AND THE WORKMAN SHIP IS SUPERB. I REALIZE THAT THEY WOULD REQUIRE A “BREAK-IN” BUT IT TAKES MORE TIME THAN SHOULD B NECESSARY. HOWEVER EVEN AFTER THE BREAK-IN PERIOD IT STILL DOES NOT SLIP BACK INTO THE HOLSTER AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THE WEAPON HANGS UP IN THE HOLSTER WHEN REMOVING IT. I BELIEVE THAT THE HOLSTER SHOULD B CONSTRUCTED SLIGHTLY LARGER SO THE BREAK-IN PERIOD WOULD NOT B SO EXTENSIVE AND ALLOW THE WEAPONS TO B EASILY REMOVED WITHOUT HANGING UP..

Great, right fit, will be getting more for other tools.

Very well constructed. It’s not a “this size fits these 4 guns” holster. It’s made for my model specifically and I can tell the difference. The dimensions are perfect. This is the only place I’ll shop a holster.
