How To Choose The Best Cross Draw Holster For Your Colt Lawman - 2"
When you're shopping for a new Cross Draw holster for you.Colt Lawman - 2", knowing exactly what you want matters. If you've narrowed it down to a Cross Draw holster, you're already on the right path. Below, we’ll walk you through why this carry style might be the ideal fit, how to find the best model for your body type and setup, and what materials and add-ons to consider.
Why Choose a Cross Draw Holster?
Cross draw holsters are designed for those who prioritise comfort while seated and prefer an alternative draw angle. Worn on the opposite side of your dominant hand, this carry style allows you to reach across your body to draw your firearm.
Ideal for seated carry
Cross draw holsters are excellent for drivers or individuals who spend long periods sitting. The placement allows for easy access to your Colt Lawman - 2" without interference from seatbelts or armrests.
Natural draw motion
The cross-body draw is intuitive for many users, especially those with limited shoulder mobility. It provides a smooth, sweeping motion that can feel more comfortable than a straight-side draw.
Great for open carry and concealment
While cross draw is often used for open carry, with the right cover garment, it can also work effectively for concealed carry, especially when worn slightly forward of the hip.
Keeps firearm away from dominant side activities
For users who carry tools, radios, or other gear on their dominant side, cross draw keeps the firearm accessible without interfering with other equipment.
Suitable for specific defensive scenarios
Cross draw carry can be advantageous in retention scenarios where the firearm is protected by your arms and body angle, making it harder for others to grab.
Whether you’re looking for a comfortable seated carry option or prefer the cross-body draw motion, a cross draw holster provides a practical and accessible way to carry your Colt Lawman - 2".
How to Choose the Right Colt Lawman - 2" Cross Draw Holster for Your Body and Lifestyle
Body type and fit
Choose a holster with adjustable cant and ride height to position your Colt Lawman - 2" comfortably across your torso. Slim users may prefer holsters with less bulk, while larger builds can benefit from broader platforms for stability.
Gun size compatibility
Cross draw holsters work best with compact to mid-sized firearms for easier draw and comfort. Full-size pistols can be carried cross draw but may require holsters with enhanced retention and support.
Carry position
Most users wear cross draw holsters on the front of their non-dominant side hip, angled forward for a smooth cross-body draw. Ensure the holster’s cant allows for quick, natural access.
Handedness
Select a cross draw holster designed for your dominant hand, ensuring the angle and draw direction are optimal for your setup.
Retention and safety
Look for holsters with reliable retention mechanisms to keep your Colt Lawman - 2" secure during movement. The trigger guard should be fully covered at all times.
Comfort features
Prioritise holsters made from breathable, padded materials to reduce pressure and irritation, especially during long drives or extended seated periods.

I'm right handed but, due to some neurologic and muscle atrophy problems, I had to change to left-hand shooting. The result is many new holsters. I've now purchased a total of 6 of these holsters, and that should tell you my opinion of them. All take some break-in fitting, and I've modified the retension strap on all of them intended for my revolvers. These holsters are great quality and craftsmanship. Overall, my favorite carry holster.
