Craft Holsters requested I submit a review on the Paddle Holster with Thumb Break. I am sorry to break there reported average rating of five stars from 380 reviews. I spent more than two weeks researching this type of holster and even called several of the manufacturers. My basic criterium included paddle style, thumb break, leather. The holster was ordered to fit a Smith and Wesson model 28-2 "Highway Patrolman" 357 magnum with a four inch barrel. Craft Holsters did not offer the color I wanted so I settled on mahogany. To my delight, the holster arrived about two weeks early. I had read and watched everything I could find in preparation of breaking in the new holster. I even ordered the break in liquid recommended by Craft Holsters. Of course, all of the literature, including Craft Holsters' recommendations, said the holster would arrive very tight and need to be stretched and molded to the gun. I unboxed the holster and slide the gun it. The gun "fit" but the holster was too wide; invert the holster and the gun falls right out. The after tightening the retention screw, there is no retention what so ever. Thank to the thumb break the holster will work, but it is not the fit I expected. Despite the fit of the holster, I found the adjustment of the paddle to be very easy. Obviously, the break-in fluid I ordered from Craft Holsters was a total waste of money as the holster did not require any break-in. I also order a speedloader case with this holster so they would be color matched. They are color matched but the diameter of the case is too small. I guess I will use the break-in fluid on the case and try to stretch it to fit. My final comment is in regards to the holster lining. I knew the holster was unlined but of the several holsters I own, it is the roughest on the inside. I will have to work on that as well. Will I use the holster? Sure; It will do. Will I used the speedloader case? Yes; if I can manage to stretch it out. Am I happy with this purchase? Unfortunately, no. I realize my gun is uncommon and most manufacturers do not offer a paddle back holster for it. I am grateful that Craft Holsters were at least willing to try.
