About Sig Sauer P225
The Sig Sauer company began in 1853 and was at first a wagon factory - until the revolutionary design of the Prélaz-Burnand rifle, which this factory manufactured, had won a Switzerland's Federal Ministry of Defense competition to produce 30 000 Prélaz-Burnand rifles. The factory then changed its name to Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft - SIG (Swiss Industrial Company in English).
This model uses the well-known Browning link method of breech locking, using a shaped cam to withdraw the barrel from engagement with the slide. Its principal feature is the incorporation of improved safety devices, and there is no applied safety so that the weapon can be brought into action very rapidly. The pistol is chambered in 9mm Parabellum caliber. The overall length is 7.09-in the barrel length of this model is 3.85-in. The magazine capacity is 8 rounds. This recoil operated semi-automatic features double-action trigger, frame mounted decocker safety, aluminum alloy frame, black plastic grip and fixed 3-dot sights. The pistol and cartridge was first adopted by the German Navy in 1904 and then by the German Army in 1908. This cartridge has since been adopted by the military of practically every non-Communist power. It has become the most popular and widely-used handgun cartridge in the world.
