About Glock 19 - Gen4
Glock Ges.m.b.H., trademarked as Glock is one of the most famous and successful firearm producer, well known all over the world. Engineer Gaston Glock, company's founder who had no experience with firearms manufacture or design, became one of the most successful firearms designer of all times. Glock had extensive experience in advanced synthetic polymers, knowledge of which was very important in the company's design of the first commercially successful line of polymer frame pistols.
The Glock 19 Gen 4 is a product from the Gen 4 series that was introduced in 2010. The updates of the new generation centered on ergonomics and the spring assembly. The parts of some handguns can be interchanged between each other. The Grip on the Glock 19 Gen-4 as well on other from this generation is smaller, the magazine releases are reversible for left hand users. The trigger mechanism on the G19 Gen 4, as well as other models, has been also modified for it to fit in the smaller grip space and also the slide and barrel shelf have been resized. The standard trigger housing pin was removed and replaced by a longer cross pin in order to mount the backstrap that increased the trigger distance by 2 mm or 4 mm (0.079 in or 0.16 in). With the backstrap installed, the grip size is identical to the other Gen pistols.
