About Les Baer Monolith - 5"
Les Baer was founded in 1991 in Hillsdale, Illinois by Les Baer Sr. The company is famous for producing premium quality 1911 semi-autos. After Illinois started to implement restrictive gun laws the company moved to Iowa. Les Baer is one of two pistol manufacturers (the other being S&W) authorized to use and display Clint Smith’s Thunder Ranch logo and currently offers a line of pistols and rifles that use the name.
The Les Baer Monolith - 5’’ is a single-action, recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol developed by Les Baer Custom Inc., an American manufacturer of semi-custom M1911 pistols as well as AR-15 rifles. The Les Baer Monolith - 5’’ is a full size pistol introduced back in 2017 and its design is based on the famous M1911 semi-auto pistols. The frame of the Les Baer Monolith - 5’’ is made of blued finish steel and the grips are made of checkered cocobolo. The Les Baer Monolith - 5’’ features a full-sized 5’’ barrel and the pistol can be chambered in by a variety of calibers - 9x19mm Parabellum, .38 Special, and probably the most popular 1911 caliber, the .45 ACP. The Les Baer Monolith - 5’’ comes with a single stack magazine that can be loaded with up to 8 rounds of ammo, which applies to all the calibers it can be fed with. The Monolith - 5’’ also comes with fixed sights. Due to its size, the Les Baer Monolith - 5’’ probably isn’t the best concealed carry option, but it’s a great competitive shooting handgun and one of the best home-defense guns out there.
