The Remington 1911 R1 5 inch barrel with rail is a semi-automatic pistol modeled after the Model 1911 design. The pistol was produced in 1918, but after the end of World War I the production has stopped. It was announced in 2010 that Remington will continue making this model again under the new adopted name, Remington 1911 R1 railed full size. The Remington R1 is recoil operated, single-action. It has a grip safety and a manual thumb safety. The frame is made either from stainless steel or steel with a black oxide style finish. The grip is walnut double-diamond. The sights are 3-dot combat sights.
