Unlike IWB clip holsters, clip holsters for open carry are most frequently attached to one’s dominant side, which means the 3 or 4 o’clock belt position. The reason why OWB clip-on holsters are not that common is because holsters with belt slots or belt tunnels are more stable on the belt, making them a better choice for bigger handguns such as the 1911 or Beretta APX.
