About Stoeger Cougar
The Stoeger company was founded in 1924 and currently is located in Accokeek, Maryland. Most of these firearms were high quality and came from known makers in Europe. Many firearms were marketed under the Stoeger brand.
The Stoeger Cougar is a recoil-operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistols. These pistols use a relatively rare rotating barrel locking system, in which the barrel rotates on recoil to unlock itself from the slide. The rotating motion of the barrel is controlled by the stud on its bottom, which follows the cam track in the steel frame insert. The Stoeger Cougar cal. 9mm Cougar cal. 40, Cougar cal. 45 can hold 10 or 13 rounds in a double stacked mag.
