About Springfield XD - 3.8"
The original institution was founded in 1777 by the direct order of George Washington in Springfield, Massachusetts. The purpose was to store revolutionary ammunition and gun carriages for a rising nation. The Armory began producing arms in 1794 and had been producing them until 1968 when the U.S. Government closed it.
The Springfield XD is a pistol introduced to the market in 2001. It is a polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol with an ergonomic design. This pistol has many caliber options, such as XD40, XD45, XD9 is a renewed version of a Croatian pistol design. Springfield Armory inc. negotiated the license for the US market and started selling it as XD (X-treme Duty) in 2002. The Springfield XD XD 3.8 Inch is a duty weapon, has various safety features – trigger system that prevents unintentional rearward trigger movement, grip safety that doesn’t allow firing until a firm grip is formed on the handle and a internal firing pin block. The many variations of this Springfield design, such as the Springfield XD 9mm, Springfield XD 9, Springfield XD 40, Springfield XD 45 just illustrate how powerful and versatile the firearm is.
