The Story of Mossberg Holsters
O.F. Mossberg & Sons, commonly known as Mossberg, is an American firearms manufacturing company that specializes in production of long guns (shotguns and rifles), semi automatic pistols, rifle scopes, and various pistol accessories. Even though the company is currently based in New Haven, Connecticut, its origins can be traced back to Sweden, the birthplace of Oscar Frederick Mossberg, the company’s founder. Shortly after emigrating to the United States (back in 1886), O.F. Mossberg started working for Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works, where he was responsible for manufacture of revolvers and shotguns.
At the age of 58, Mossberg and his sons Iver and Harold started their own company, which has been known as O.F. Mossberg & Sons ever since its foundation in 1919. Their first ever design was the Mossberg Brownie, which was a four shot, .22 LR pistol. The production of the Mossberg Brownie ceased in 1932 and for nearly eight decades, Mossberg had been focusing on production of long guns only. However, in 2019, the company introduced the Mossberg MC1sc, which is a sub-compact semi-auto pistol designed for concealed carry. In early 2020, the company started producing the Mossberg MC2s, a compact version of the MC1sc pistol. As the MC2c almost instantly became a success, the company decided to introduce a sub-compact version of the pistol, called the Mossberg MC2sc.
