About Sig Sauer P220
The Sig Sauer company began in 1853 and was at first a wagon factory - until the revolutionary design of the Prélaz-Burnand rifle, which this factory manufactured, had won a Switzerland's Federal Ministry of Defense competition to produce 30 000 Prélaz-Burnand rifles. The factory then changed its name to Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft - SIG (Swiss Industrial Company in English).
The Sig Sauer P220 is semi-automatic pistol operating on the locked breech short-recoil system that has been pioneered by John B. It has been developed for the Swiss army in 1975 and is produced to this day with various modifications. It had been sold modified in the USA in the years 1977 - 1980. It is an alloy framed polymer gun. The Sig Sauer P220 is chambered .45 ACP and can hold 8 rounds or 10 in an extended magazine. The Sig Sauer 220 is a well-built and all around favored gun by shooters all around the world thanks to the precise Swiss engineering.
