About Rock Island M15
Rock Island pistols are manufactured by Armscor, which was established in 1905 in the Philippines as a trading company. It’s focus was motorcycles and sporting goods, which included firearms and ammunition. In 1952, the company started producing firearms and ammunition. Today the company is the largest ammunition and arms manufacturer in SouthEast Asia.
The Rock Island M15 was developed by the U.S. Army's Rock Island Arsenal to replace the aging Colt 1903 and 1908 pocket Hammerless pistols. The Rock Island M15 is quite similar to the Colt Commander and is operationally similar to the M1911A1. Formally adopted in 1972, it is no longer produced but remains in service with some long-career officers. It is a semi-automatic single stack pistol and has a frame made of parkerized steel. The Rock Island M15 has a shorter barrel which is reported to have a greater muzzle blast and it relies on the use of the .45 ACP cartridge. Its magazine is single stack and it can store up to 7 rounds of ammo.Gun Facts
