About Kimber Sapphire II - 3"
The Kimber Manufacturing is one of the most successful American firearm producer that is specializing in manufacturing, design and also distribution of various small arms such as the Solo pistols, M1911 pistols and rifles. The Kimber company has been producing firearms since the 1979, when this company was known as “Kimber of Oregon” and focused in accurate .22 rifles.
This model is a compact 1911-sized Oficer with a 3-inch barrel and an adequately shortened breech. It differs from the other 1911s mainly by its exclusive surface treatment, tritium sights, double-sided thumb safety and thin handles made of G-10 material with longitudinal grooves. The ramped barrel is made of stainless steel and is centered at the end without the aid of bushing. The barrel is in the design of the bull, ie significantly thick-walled. The construction material used to make the breech of the weapon is also stainless steel. The breech is provided with a deep blue PVD surface treatment with a deep mirror gloss decorated with decent ornaments. The ejection port is enlarged and modified to reduce the risk of trapping the ejected cartridge in it. The sights are exclusively metal reminiscent of the Novak design, 3-dot night sights accentuated with tritium, enabling aiming even in low light conditions. The frame of the weapon is made of high-quality aluminum alloy and subsequently treated with surface treatment in a shade of satin silver. The stock of the weapon is roughened in the front and rear grip part by vertical grooving. A similar texture is borne by the black and blue handles of the stock made of G-10 material, which are thinner than usual. The controls are made of stainless steel, the thumb fuse is double-sided. All controls such as fuses, breech lock, drum cock, and even screws securing the stock carry the same deep blue PVD deep gloss finish as the breech.
