About Kahr PM9
Although the Kahr Arms does not belong among the largest firearm manufacturers on the international market, however it is a quite successful company, with plenty of satisfied customers. Most of the Kahr pistols lovers are from the US. This American small arms manufacturing company was founded by a Korean businessman Kook Jin "Justin" Moon, who is currently a CEO of the Kahr Arms. Kahr is focused on manufacturing of compact and mid-size semi-automatic pistols which are usually chambered for popular cartridges, such as the 9mm Luger, .380 ACP, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.
The Kahr pistols have polymer or stainless steel frames, single-stack magazine, and double-action, only striker firing actions. The action of the Kahr Arms is a Browning locked-breech design featuring a striker-operated firing pin with a firing pin safety which is passive, what making it a true hammerless action. The trigger bar immediately begins to rotate a double-lobed cocking cam when the trigger is pulled. The cam as one begins to draw the striker to rear and compressing the spring behind it, while depressing and deactivating the firing pin block. At the end of the trigger's move, the lobe contacting the striker slips off the striker and releases that, other lobe has, by this point, thoroughly depressed the firing pin block and permitted striker to snap forward and strike the primer. The single piece takes the place of fragile and more complicated designs used in other models.
Justin Moon was awarded for this innovation one of the five patents he owns on the Kahr pistol design. The system is used on all the Kahr models, regardless of caliber, frame material or size.
The Kahr PM9 is a semi-automatic, striker-fired pistol with locked-breech design, which relying on a modification of Browning dropping-barrel system with a lug just above the chamber, locking the barrel into the roof of the slide. Even though that its trigger is designated as the DAO what means the double-action, only by the manufacturer, its operation is actually very similar to the Glock, Springfield Armory XD or S&W M&P. Truly double-action only triggers are designed to completely cock and fire a pistol, allowing a re-fire operation on a miss-fired round without racking the slide. Like the other models mentioned before, the Kahr triggers utilize a slide-assisted cocking action that removes much of its weight and length of the trigger pull. The result of the trigger design is that it cannot cock the striker on its own, however it is functionally much more like a single-action trigger. The Kahr PM9 cartridge was introduced to the market along with the Luger semi-automatic pistol. Both, the pistol and also cartridge was first adopted in 1904. This cartridge has since the year 1908 when it was adopted by the German Army, been adopted by the military of practically every non-Communist power. It has been practically the most popular and also widely-used handgun cartridge in the globe. The Kahr PM9 model is a Double Action Only pistol which shoots 9mm Luger ammunition. Maximum magazine capacity of this model is 6 rounds, what is a bit less than average pistols of the same caliber. This gun has many features which are typical for the Kahr design. It does not have any special additional construction devices but anyway it is still a reliable pistol.
