About Colt Police Positive - 2.5"
Colt’s Manufacturing Company (CMC) represents one of the most famous American guns manufacturers, respected and well known worldwide. Sam Colt established the first Colt’s factory in England in 1851. Few years later, he managed to expand also to American continent and factory was founded in Hartford, in Connecticut. In 1891, Colt came into a contract with John Browning, when long and profitable relationship started.
The Colt Police Positive 2.5” is a small-frame, double-action revolver. It was designed for law enforcement agencies and introduced in 1905. The Colt Police Positive 2.5” features a six-round cylinder, chambered for either .32 or .38 caliber. It is made of carbon steel finished with either a polished blued finish or nickel-plated. This revolver became the handgun choice for so many in law enforcement for nearly 40 years. Colt's Positive Lock safety, the innovation responsible for the gun's introduction, functioned by preventing the firing pin from striking the primer of the cartridge unless the trigger was deliberately pulled. Intended to address deficiencies of earlier models such as the Single Action Army, the Positive Lock prevented an accidental discharge even if the hammer was struck or the pistol was dropped, allowing the revolver to be safely carried with all six chambers loaded.[7] The revolver's sights consisted of a half-moon blade front with a fixed iron open rear sight, which was a simple V-notch shaped groove milled into the revolver's top strap.
